This is a physical print zine exploring the history, psychology, and cultural impact of the internet trend of liminal spaces. The zine uses photography, typography,and written analysis to highlight how these transitional spaces like hallways, classrooms, waiting rooms and more can evoke feelings of nostalgia, unease and isolation. Drawing on internet sensations like “the backrooms” the design leans into grainy low light imagery and stark text placement to mimic the eerie familiarity of liminal environments, the goal was to create both and informative but also highly atmospheric text that can capture the strain tension of spaces caught between use and abandonment.
